MailerLite Leadpages Guide (2026): Connect Forms or Use MailerLite Landing Pages?

How to send Leadpages leads into MailerLite, how MailerLite's own landing page builder works, and how to decide which tool should host your pages.

Updated November 7, 2026

The MailerLite Leadpages question usually comes in two forms: how to send Leadpages signups into MailerLite, and whether MailerLite's own landing page builder makes Leadpages unnecessary. Both have clear answers. Leadpages can pass leads to a MailerLite group through its newer Core integration, Zapier or webhooks, and MailerLite can host simple pages itself on every plan, including the free one. This guide covers both routes and helps you pick.

Quick Answers

  • Does Leadpages work with MailerLite? Yes, via a MailerLite API key and a Leadpages automation, according to Leadpages' help center.
  • What passes across? Email, mapped custom fields and consent status, into an optional group. Tags are not supported.
  • Can MailerLite build landing pages? Yes. Its free plan allows one landing page; Comfort (from $12/mo) allows ten; Power (from $25/mo) is unlimited.
  • Which should host your pages? MailerLite for a few simple signup pages; Leadpages when pages, pop-ups and testing are central to how you get leads.

How the Leadpages MailerLite Integration Works

Leadpages has been moving to a new integrations dashboard, and MailerLite is one of the tools listed in it. Instead of wiring each form separately, you connect MailerLite once at the account level and then build an automation that says which pages' forms should send leads to MailerLite and which fields go where. Leadpages notes that these integrations are rolling out gradually, so the exact menus in your account may differ from the steps below.

Each automation sends contacts to one MailerLite account and performs one action: add or update a subscriber. If the email address is new, MailerLite creates a contact; if it already exists, the contact is updated with the latest details from the form. You can choose a group as the destination. With no group selected, people land only in your main Subscribers list; with a group, they appear in both, which is what lets you trigger a MailerLite welcome automation for that specific signup.

How to Connect Leadpages to MailerLite

  1. Create an API key in MailerLite. Go to Integrations, open the API option and generate a new token. Leadpages' instructions recommend allowing all IP addresses to avoid authorization errors. The full key is shown only once, so copy it straight into a password manager.
  2. Connect MailerLite in Leadpages. Open the Integrations area of your Leadpages dashboard, choose MailerLite, click Connect and paste the key. Never paste the key into page HTML, scripts or emails.
  3. Prepare fields in MailerLite first. Any custom field you want to fill, such as company or interest, must exist under Subscribers, then Fields, before it shows up in Leadpages' mapping dropdown. For GDPR consent, create a consent field in MailerLite and map the Leadpages consent field to it.
  4. Build the automation. Pick the pages, pop-ups or alert bars that collect leads, choose MailerLite as the destination, select a group if you want one and map each form field.
  5. Switch it on and test. Publish the page, submit a test signup with a fresh email address and confirm the contact appears in the right group.

Leadpages' MailerLite article ties this setup to its custom forms widget rather than the older standard form widget, while another help article describes integrations for custom forms as still arriving. If MailerLite does not appear as a destination for your form, check which form widget the page uses and contact Leadpages support before rebuilding anything.

Leadpages caps active integrations by plan. At the time of writing its pricing page lists five active connections on Pro, Business and Grow and ten on Optimize, while its integrations page shows higher caps for some plans, so check the figure in your own account. Webhooks do not count toward that limit. Plan details are in the Leadpages pricing guide, and the integrations hub covers other tools.

MailerLite's Own Landing Page Builder

MailerLite builds landing pages inside its Sites area. You can start from a template, start from scratch in the drag-and-drop editor, or describe your business and goal and let its AI builder generate three versions to choose from. MailerLite says the AI builder is a paid feature that free users can try once. Pages are assembled from more than 70 premade sections, such as hero, FAQ, pricing and gallery blocks, plus interactive surveys, quizzes and polls.

Conversion tools include signup forms tied to a subscriber group, pop-ups and countdown timers, and MailerLite says you can split traffic between up to five versions of a page to test them. Paid plans add selling digital products and subscriptions from a page, and MailerLite lists unlimited custom domains on Comfort. Each page has its own SEO settings, including a title, description and a switch for whether search engines may index it, and you can add an analytics tracking ID or a Facebook pixel.

How to Create a Landing Page in MailerLite

MailerLite's help center describes this process for its current builder:

  1. Open Sites; the Landing pages tab is shown first. Click to create a new page and give it a name.
  2. Choose the subscriber group that people who sign up on this page should join.
  3. Pick Build with AI or Start from scratch, or work from one of the templates.
  4. Add sections and elements, set fonts and colors with brand styles, and check the separate mobile view, where you can hide or reorder blocks for small screens.
  5. Click Done editing, then publish. Pages are not public until published, and later edits go live with Publish new version.
  6. In Page settings, choose the domain (MailerLite recommends your own), fill in the SEO title and description, and decide whether the page may be indexed.

If you want to reuse a design, save the finished page as a template and it appears under My Templates. For layout ideas that apply to any builder, the guide to lead capture pages walks through what each section should do.

MailerLite Landing Pages vs Leadpages: Which Should Host Your Pages?

If you…Lean toward
Need one or two simple signup pages and already use MailerLiteMailerLite's builder
Are on a tight budget and have under 250 subscribersMailerLite Free
Run many campaign pages, ads or launches each monthLeadpages
Want pop-ups, alert bars, Stripe checkouts and pages in one toolLeadpages
Want AI traffic routing and heatmapsLeadpages Optimize
Might switch email providers laterLeadpages, so your pages are not tied to your email tool

The main reason to keep pages in Leadpages while sending email from MailerLite is separation: your pages, pop-ups and lead data stay in one place if you ever change email platforms, and Leadpages includes unlimited traffic and leads on every plan. The trade-off is a second subscription, starting at $29 a month. If you mostly need pages and email in one cheap bundle, MailerLite or another all-in-one tool from the Leadpages alternatives list may suit you better. Troubleshooting the Connection

  • Authorization error when connecting: the key may be incomplete or restricted by IP. Generate a new token, allow all IPs and paste it again.
  • Contacts arrive but not in the group: open the automation and check the group selected in the destination step.
  • A custom field is missing from the dropdown: create it in MailerLite first, then return to the mapping step.
  • You expected tags: the Core integration does not send tags, so use a group per page or offer.
  • Delivering a freebie: link the file on your thank-you page or send it from a MailerLite welcome email; Leadpages' built-in lead magnet delivery is a legacy feature not available to newer accounts.

If you collect email for a webinar or CRM as well, the guide to Leadpages email, CRM and webinar integrations explains how the different connection types compare, and the AWeber setup guide covers a similar list-based workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Leadpages work with MailerLite?

Yes. Leadpages' help center documents MailerLite as one of its newer Core integrations: you connect with a MailerLite API key and send form leads to MailerLite through an automation, optionally into a group. Zapier and webhooks are alternative routes.

Can Leadpages add tags in MailerLite?

Not through the Core integration. Leadpages' MailerLite article says automations can send contacts to a group and map custom fields, but tags are not supported. Use groups for segmentation instead.

Is the MailerLite landing page builder free?

MailerLite's free plan includes one website and one landing page, with up to 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month. Paid plans start at $12 a month and raise the page limit, and the Comfort plan removes the MailerLite logo.

Should I use MailerLite landing pages or Leadpages?

If you need one or two simple signup pages and already send email from MailerLite, its builder may be enough. Leadpages makes more sense when landing pages are a core channel and you want pop-ups, alert bars, checkouts and testing in one place; see Leadpages features.

Why are my Leadpages leads not showing up in MailerLite?

Check that the API key was pasted in full, that the automation is switched on and pointed at the right group, and that any custom fields existed in MailerLite before you mapped them. Then submit a test lead from the published page.

Is MailerLite vs Leadpages a fair comparison?

Only partly. MailerLite is an email marketing platform with a landing page builder included, while Leadpages is a dedicated landing page and lead capture tool that hands contacts to an email platform. Many businesses use both.
