Adding a social share on Leadpages landing page layouts takes two jobs: placing share or follow buttons, and making sure the link looks good when it lands in a feed. The Classic Builder has dedicated widgets for the first job, while all three Leadpages editors let you set the social title, description and image. The steps below say which builder each one applies to, so check whether your page opens in the newer app, Page Studio or the Classic Builder before you start; the editor guide explains how to tell.
Social Sharing in Brief
- Classic social widget: share the current page, share a different URL, or link to your profile.
- Networks that share: Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn and Pinterest; other networks can be follow links.
- Facebook Like widget: Classic only, with optional Like counts.
- Newer app and Page Studio: no social widget is documented, so use an HTML element for share buttons.
- Social preview: 1200 x 630 pixel image recommended in every builder.
Add Share Buttons With the Classic Social Widget

Leadpages recommends setting the page's preview image and description first, since that is what people see after they click a share icon. Then:
- Drag the social widget onto the page where you want the icons, usually near the headline of a content page or on a thank-you page.
- Click any icon to open the settings side panel. Remove networks you do not want with the trash can icon.
- Click a network and pick its URL option: "Share this page URL on..." shares the page itself, Share another URL shares a different address, and Link to profile turns the icon into a follow link to your account.
- Reorder the icons with the up and down arrows beside each service.
- Style the widget: choose horizontal or vertical orientation, left, center or right alignment, and button and icon colors. Clearing the custom colors with the slashed-circle icon returns each icon to its network's own colors.
- Update the page and test each icon on the live URL.
Only Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Pinterest support real sharing through the widget. Other networks listed in the widget work as profile links, and a service can only act as a share button if it offers a share URL.
Share a Different Page From a Thank-You Page
The Share another URL option is the one most people overlook. On a thank-you page, a share button pointing at the thank-you URL is useless, because anyone who clicks the shared link skips the form. Point every icon at the opt-in or sales page instead, so the new visitor lands where they can sign up. Leadpages' template gallery includes a social share thank-you page layout built on this idea. If you are setting up that page from scratch, the redirects and thank-you pages guide shows how to send new subscribers there.
Add a Facebook Like Button
The Classic social like widget lets visitors Like a page and share it to their Facebook timeline. It supports Facebook only.
- Drag the social like widget onto the page and click it, then open the Facebook panel in the sidebar.
- Keep "Like this page URL on Facebook" to collect Likes for the landing page, or choose Like another URL and paste your Facebook business page so Likes go to the page you post from.
- Pick a style: No Count, Count Above or Count on Side. With Count on Side you can also show faces of the visitor's friends who already Liked it.
If the same page is published on more than one domain, Likes for "this page URL" split between the addresses. Send traffic to one published URL so the count stays in one place.

Every builder has social preview fields, and they matter more than the buttons: a shared link with a cropped logo or a missing image gets scrolled past. Where to find them:
| Builder | Where | Fields |
|---|---|---|
| Newer Leadpages app | Gear icon in the editor, or Page Settings from the dashboard | OG Title, OG Description, OG Image, Twitter Card Type, Social Preview |
| Page Studio | Settings panel, then SEO and Social Preview | Social title, description and image |
| Classic Builder | Settings in the left sidebar, then the Social tab | Preview image, title, description and a Social URL field |
Leadpages recommends an image of at least 1200 x 630 pixels (600 x 315 is the minimum in the Classic Builder) and does not support SVG for previews. On a Classic site, a page's own social settings override the site-wide ones. Save, then update or publish, because nothing changes for social networks until the page is live. Search snippets and the rest of these settings are covered in the Leadpages SEO guide.
Fix an Old or Wrong Preview
Networks cache previews, so an update may not show straight away. Paste the live URL into Facebook's Sharing Debugger and click Debug, then Scrape Again after further changes. LinkedIn caches for about seven days; use its Post Inspector, or add a harmless parameter such as ?q=1 to the link so it is treated as new. X falls back to the Open Graph settings. If the shared address itself is wrong, fill in the Classic Social URL field.
Get a Share Link and Track Shares
To copy a page's address, open the page's action menu on the Landing Pages dashboard and choose Publishing Options, then Copy Link; inside the Classic Builder, use the arrow beside Update. Older pages may still sit on a leadpages.net address, which works for sharing but looks less trustworthy than your own domain.
Leadpages does not document a count of how many times a page was shared. The practical way to find out is to tag the links you share:
- Add UTM parameters to each link you post, for example one tag per network, and read the results in Google Analytics or your page analytics.
- Use Share another URL in the social widget with a tagged version of the page address, so visitor shares are identifiable too.
- Watch referral traffic from facebook.com, linkedin.com and pinterest.com in your analytics.
Setting up analytics and pixels is covered in the tracking guide, and paid social traffic has its own walkthrough in Facebook ad landing pages.
Share Buttons in the Newer App and Page Studio
The help center documents the social widget for the Classic Builder only. In Page Studio or the newer app, generate a share-button snippet in a third-party share tool and paste it into an HTML element, then publish and test it on the live page, since embedded scripts often do not run inside the editor. For follow links without code, add icons or images and link each one to your profile with an external URL. For Instagram traffic, where the link usually lives in a bio, see Instagram landing pages.
Pinterest Pins and Comments
Pins: the Pinterest share option lets visitors save the page to a board. Pinterest pulls from the page's images and preview, so a tall, clear image near the top and a strong social preview image make the pin look intentional rather than a cropped screenshot.
Comments: Leadpages does not document a native comments widget. If a page needs discussion, embed a comment tool's code in an HTML widget with the custom code guide, or ask people to reply on a social post you link to.

How do I add share buttons to a Leadpages page?
In the Classic Builder, drag the social widget onto the page, click an icon and choose Share this page URL for each network. Sharing works with Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Pinterest. In Page Studio or the newer app, paste a share-button snippet from another tool into an HTML element; see the custom code guide.
How can I tell if my Leadpages page was shared?
Leadpages does not document a share counter. Share a link with UTM parameters, or point the widget's Share another URL option at a tagged link, and watch referral and campaign traffic in your analytics. The Facebook Like widget can show its own Like count.
How do I change the image that shows when my page is shared?
Set it in the page's social settings: Settings, then the Social tab in the Classic Builder, or OG Image in Page Settings in the newer app. Use 1200 x 630 pixels, update the page, then refresh the preview with Facebook's Sharing Debugger.
Can visitors pin a Leadpages page on Pinterest?
Yes. Pinterest is one of the four networks the Classic social widget can share to. Use a clear, vertical-friendly image on the page and a good social preview image so the pin looks right.
Can you put comments on a Leadpages page?
Leadpages does not document a comments widget. If you need comments, embed a third-party comment tool's code in an HTML widget, or send the discussion to a social post or community you already run.
