A Leadpages upsell can take two forms: an order bump that buyers tick on the checkout form before paying, and an upsell page that appears after the first purchase. Leadpages lists order bumps as part of its built-in Stripe checkouts, and its help center describes building upsells as a second checkout on a thank-you page. This guide explains what each option does, how to set it up in the new Leadpages app and the Classic Builder, and where the limits are so you can design an offer that works.
Upsells in Leadpages at a Glance
- Order bumps: supported. The checkouts page describes them as upsells at checkout "with a single checkbox".
- Upsell pages: supported as a page you build, with its own checkout for the extra offer.
- One-click post-purchase upsells: not documented in any current help article.
- Payments: Stripe is built in; Leadpages says it charges nothing on top of Stripe's processing fee.
- Fulfilment: Leadpages' checkout help has described no tax, shipping or logistics handling, so plan to deliver order bump products yourself and confirm current limits with support.
Order Bump vs Upsell Page: Which One You Need

The two tools solve different problems. An order bump is a small, related add-on shown on the checkout form itself, such as a workbook alongside a course or a recording alongside a workshop ticket. Because the buyer is already entering card details, the bump is charged in the same transaction, which is why it is the simplest way to raise the average order value.
An upsell page comes after the purchase. It usually carries a bigger or complementary offer, like coaching after a course or a bundle after a single product. In Leadpages this is a normal page with its own checkout, so buyers pay a second time rather than accepting with one click. That extra step matters for how you price and present the offer.
| Option | Where it appears | How it is charged | Leadpages status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Order bump | On the checkout form | With the main order | Listed on the checkouts page and in Classic help |
| Upsell page | After purchase, on a page you build | A second checkout | Described in Classic help |
| One-click upsell | After purchase | Saved card, no re-entry | Not documented |
| Downsell sequence | After a declined upsell | Another checkout | No built-in flow; link pages manually |
Before You Start
- A paid plan with selling enabled. The new help center says checkouts require a paid plan with e-commerce enabled and points you to Dashboard, then Billing, to check. The pricing guide lists current plans.
- A Stripe account. Checkouts connect to Stripe with a sign-in rather than API keys. The Leadpages Stripe guide covers the connection in detail.
- Your products and prices in Stripe. The Classic Builder pulls products and prices from Stripe, so create the main product and the bump product there first.
- A plan for delivery. Lead magnet delivery is a legacy feature that accounts created after January 10, 2025 do not have, so deliver digital goods through the thank-you page or your email tool.
How to Add an Order Bump in Leadpages
In the new Leadpages app, checkouts are added from the editor: open the Add panel, choose the Checkout tab, select Stripe and connect your account. You can also ask the AI builder to add a checkout section. Leadpages' checkouts page says you configure price, quantity and order bumps for each checkout, but the new help article does not list the exact order bump labels, so look in the checkout's settings after you add it.
The Classic Builder help gives the full sequence:
- Drag a Checkout widget onto your page or pop-up.
- Connect Stripe from the left sidebar, or create a Stripe account.
- In the form's Payments tab, pick the product and price from the drop-downs. Use the refresh option if a new Stripe product does not appear.
- Toggle on the order bump and choose one one-time product or price as the add-on.
- Write the bump text so it states exactly what the buyer gets and the extra cost.
- Test by setting the product to $0.00 in Stripe, publishing and buying, then restore the real price.
Order bump products are delivered manually according to the Classic help, so add the bump item to your fulfilment checklist or email automation.
How to Build an Upsell Page After Purchase

Because each checkout sells one product, an upsell is a second page with a second checkout. The Classic Checkouts overview says you can create an upsell by placing another checkout on a thank-you page. A typical flow looks like this:
- Build the upsell page from a sales or thank-you template. Open with confirmation that the first order went through, then introduce the extra offer.
- Add a checkout for the upsell product with its own Stripe product and price.
- Send buyers to that page after paying. Classic forms use an Actions tab where you choose another landing page or an external URL; check your checkout's settings for the equivalent option, and publish the upsell page before linking to it.
- Give a clear decline link to a plain thank-you page with access details, so buyers who skip the offer still get what they paid for.
- Optional downsell: link the decline button to a page with a smaller offer instead, then on to the thank-you page.
Templates help here: the Leadpages sales page templates work for the upsell layout, and the sales funnel templates show how the pages connect.

Start Free Leadpages TrialFree Plus Shipping Offers in Leadpages
A free-plus-shipping offer gives away a physical item and charges only postage. Leadpages can collect the money but not run the logistics. The Classic FAQ notes that Stripe's minimum charge in US dollars is $0.50, so a $0 order will not go through, and that Leadpages does not handle tax, shipping or delivery for physical products.
- Create a Stripe product priced at your shipping and handling amount.
- Turn on shipping fields so the checkout collects a delivery address.
- Use an order bump for a low-cost add-on and an upsell page for the main paid offer.
- Ship orders yourself or through a fulfilment service, using Stripe for order details.
This is a close cousin of the self-liquidating offer, where front-end sales cover ad spend; the self-liquidating offer guide explains how to structure one.
Limits to Plan Around
- One product per checkout. Classic help says each checkout sells one product and one price, plus an optional bump; more products need more checkouts.
- No coupon field. The Classic FAQ says the checkout widget has no promo code box; the workaround is a separate discounted product.
- A second payment step for upsells. Buyers fill in another checkout form on the upsell page, so expect fewer takers than on funnel tools built for one-click flows.
- Fixed button text in Classic. The Classic checkout button reads "Pay" plus the amount and can only be translated, not rewritten.
- Older help covers older plans. Some Classic articles name legacy plans, so confirm availability in your own account.
When a Funnel Builder is a Better Fit
Leadpages works well when the offer is one product, an optional bump and perhaps one upsell page. If your business relies on stacked upsells, downsells and order forms that charge a saved card in one click, a dedicated funnel tool is built around exactly that. The landing page vs sales funnel guide explains the difference, and the best sales funnel builders list compares tools by price and features. For course creators and shops, the online course and ecommerce use-case pages show where Leadpages fits alongside other platforms.

Does Leadpages have one-click upsells?
Not as a documented feature. Leadpages advertises order bumps at checkout, and its Classic help suggests building an upsell by placing a second checkout on a thank-you page, which means buyers complete another payment form. An older Leadpages blog post listed 1-click upsells as a roadmap item, but no current help article describes them.
What is the difference between an order bump and an upsell?
An order bump is an add-on the buyer ticks on the checkout form before paying, so it is charged with the main order. An upsell is a separate offer shown after the first purchase, usually on its own page. In Leadpages the bump lives inside the checkout; the upsell is a page you build.
Can I sell more than one product in a Leadpages checkout?
The Classic Checkouts FAQ says each checkout handles one product and one price, plus an optional order bump. To offer several products, add a separate checkout for each, for example one per button or pop-up. See the Stripe checkouts guide for setup.
Can I run a free plus shipping offer with Leadpages?
Only as a paid product. Stripe's minimum charge in US dollars is $0.50, so a $0 order will not process, and Leadpages' Classic checkout help says it does not handle tax, shipping or fulfilment. Price the product at the shipping amount, turn on shipping fields and ship the item yourself.
Which Leadpages plan do I need for checkouts?
The newer help center says selling requires a paid plan with e-commerce enabled and suggests checking Dashboard, then Billing. Plan names and features are on the Leadpages pricing page; the 7-day free trial is a good time to confirm checkouts appear in your account.
Should I use a funnel builder instead?
If your offer depends on several upsells and downsells in a row, a dedicated funnel builder is designed around that flow. The sales funnel builder roundup compares options, and Leadpages vs ClickFunnels covers the most common choice.
